There is no need to worry about rain putting a damper on your big day! Read on to find out how to have an amazing rainy wedding.
Way back when…I was determined to have a colorful outdoor wedding in a beaufiful garden. Every time my fiancee and I would sit down and talk about our big day and the dreamy outdoor location we chose, my anxiety would spike about the thought of rain ruining our big day.We lived in St. Petersburg, Fl and even though we had the most sunny days, we also were known for the pop up thunderstorms that can wreak havov on your plans. We talked with our photographer and vendors and came up with a plan…a just in case plan that helped alleviate much of my anxiety about having an outdoor wedding.
If you too are dreaming of an outdoor wedding, I assure you there are things you can do now to prepare. So keep planning and I will show you how to have an amazing rainy wedding!
Communication
Have that converation with all your vendors…”what is your plan if it rains?” I sat down and talked with my photographer and all my vendors that would be handling our outdoor ceremony. As a wedding photographer, I meet regularly with my couples to go over all the timeline details and to talk about a gameplan for the what ifs. A little planning ahead, especially if rain is forecasted, can help alleviate your worries. We were married outside and our ceremony was at a different venue, after talking with our venue they assured me that they could turn the room over quickly to allow for the ceremony to take place there if need be. My photographer had it covered…whether we were doing outdoor photos or indoor and knowing that helped me feel at ease.
Location Location Location
Just in my Lafayette IN area there are numerous outdoor venues that have the ability to transfer an indoor area quickly for your ceremony in case of inclement weather. Generally these locations utilize orchards or gardens for the ceremony and then have your guests move in to the indoor venue afterward. Talk to the venue coordinator and see how they handle rainy situations. The photos in this blog post took place at Wea Creek Orchard in Lafayette, IN. Adam and Laura were looking forward to exhanging vows on the orchard property, but with rain moving in the coordinator quickly had their gorgeous white event tent ready for them to walk down the aisle in style! You can check out the following venues to see that they too offer an indoor backup plan!
