The weather outside was frightful but the spirit of the Lafayette Community was so delightful! Hundreds gathered at Riehle Plaza to dedicate themselves to getting our homeless off the street. The runners and walkers subjected themselves to freezing temps and cold rain, they poured out their hearts to support our community. We gathered prior to the race inside the warm train depot, where the DJ had the music pumping, runners and walkers were dressed in their ugliest Christmas sweaters, and heard some words of enccouragement from the Lafayette Transitional Housing Community. Lucas and Jake from Momentum Event Management gave some final instructions and then we were off! After the race we warmed up with hot cocoa and coffee and delectable treats from Kathy’s Homeade Kandies and Sweet Revolution (they were so good that I don’t even feel guilty for veering off my paleo track!). We honored those that finished the fastest in several age categories. Once we had the feeling back in our noses and toes we wrapped up the morning by laughing our tails off during the ugliest sweater contest…I thought the last election was hard but it seriously didn’t have anything on these sweaters! Seriously so proud to be a part of my Lafayette community!
